Porting and moving

Is your customer thinking of moving?

You'll need to be registered and able to submit business with Post Office for Intermediaries so we can verify you. Give us a call and we'll confirm if you're able to submit business with us. We'll also explain how to register.

Call us on 0345 266 8928. We'll take you through the process and make sure you have all the important information you need to complete your customer's application.

Please have the following information ready for security purposes:

  • Customer's account number
  • Customer's name
  • Customer's date of birth

We'll email the documents you need to complete as well as instructions on how you can return these and any supporting documents to us.

All our products are portable. Early Repayment Charges (ERCs) will not apply if your customer is still within their porting window. This means they are still in their promotional period and that the sale of their current property and purchase of their new property complete within three months.

Your customer can apply to 'top up' from our Post Office for Intermediaries product range if they need to borrow more to purchase their new property.

If the property your customer is moving to costs less than their existing property, they may want to borrow less than their existing mortgage. To enable this, they can port their current rate and redeem part of their mortgage. ERCs will apply to the amount they redeem if they're within their promotional period.

Providing your customer isn't tied in, doesn't want to port their current rate and is happy to pay any ERCs, they can apply for one of our Post Office for intermediaries products for their new property.
